Maddie on Google?

have heard that the McCanns are striking a deal with Google to have Maddies eyes on their logo. although I really do care about Maddie and I am certainly not a McCann hater, I am not sure on this latest move. Maddie on Google? She needs finding desperately, each day that goes by could be a day of torture and pain for her - but what about all of the other kids?? They are not on Google. They are not featured daily in the news. The McCanns need to concentrate on perhaps setting up a charity and pouring in all funds into it, and employing private detectives or whatever it takes - to find ALL of these poor children that are missing.


Having said all that, if my daughter was missing I am damn certain I would concentrate on finding purely her, and her alone. It just seems a bit of a kick in the teeth for all other missing, abused etc etc kids.


PLEASE dont reply just to slate the McCanns - that is NOT why I was writing this. Adults only please!

Well in a way it is a good idea to get even more publicity - but I agree that the site should be used for all missing children as it is a worldwide site!


Maybe it will be used for others as well from now on hopefully?!


And if it helps find one child then that is a good thing I guess!


To me it is like putting missing kids' faces on milk bottles in the United States of America!


I guess now they have thought of it - it could be utilised for all the missing kids worldwide!


If kids have been taken by anyone other than a paedophile this might be a very good way to get them back - the'other parent' for example may be able to run but not hide if we are all looking out for the children who have been snatched - and they cannot lock them away for ever!

Reply:How is just her eyes being on their going to help find her? Yes she has that defect in her eye but honestly I do not walk up to children and look in their eyes and well if she was just any kid playing at the park or walking by me even if I spoke to her I would likely not notice it. I didnt notice it in any of her photos except the close up of her eye. I just think this has gone to far and people are going to start opening their own eyes and see the parents for who they are and what harm I think they are doing. If she was indeed abducted those who did it must be having quite a laugh. I agree..using the money to look for other missing children would be much better served then carrying on two homes while you are not working. I dont see how a million dollar villa is needed. They could find something cheaper and use the money to help other parents who are not of their class find their missing child.

Admittedly, the children on the above site are older than Madeleine and a lot of them have been taken by a parent. But they're still missing! And getting no coverage.


There isn't even a link on the official find Madeleine site.





Sorry, I digress... Google shouldn't get involved, they could end up making a rod for their own back, it's only a matter of time before something similar happens, then those parents are going to want similar treatment. Eventually, they'll have to say no, then leave themselves open to attack, ie. "You did it for the little white girl". I also believe that the Pope was wrong to grant an audience, for the same reason.

I was watching T.V. yesterday and saw the ad on Five US


which I supposed was free ad space from channel 5 showing


the same clip with Zoe Wanamakers voice attached and I honestly thought OMG?


This is an implosion of middle class Jam and Jerusalem Dads Army esque from a retreat in Northern England on the masses delivered by the Mamma Media. Did we see this before on TV paid for us? oh yes ...party political broadcast...Is this the english that we all know and love? no...this is something completely new....


I find them utterly controlling of everything that is in my domain ...ebay, the news, tv and now google? and you know what is this ever going to be about the charities who have existed pre Madelaine for the sake of other missing children?? doubt it.....because when the media fades on this story it will not be resurrected....The public have been very generous to in my opinion a very critical set of parents in their regard to the copious support they have recieved and the small amount of criticism that they could not divulge with in the first few days even with the media in their face a direct sincere we made a mistake!





The media never did this before and before of their complete lack of sympathy for this adorable darling they seem utterly defunct in the face of the McCanns





In addition to the aforementioned fundraising ideas they are asking for banners on companies websites but only if you become a sponsor...no not anyones ordinary homepage....


and Jessops are now supporting this cause......

This campaigning abosultely stinks of selfishness and hypocrisy - see it people for what it is and not what it might be...Look at what they are doing and where the real effort lies...and for those out their that say to me that this is about their daughter...where is the proof? Reply:Ive just returned for Spain where a couple of weeks ago a German lady who had been visiting Morocco reported that she had seen a young girl resembling Maddie at a petrol station, the McCanns were informed of this straight away.They have gone to Morocco today,why didn't they go straight away instead of travelling to other countries where there weren't any reported sightings?
Reply:it's rubbish to say there are no other missing children in the UK, my friends children were taken abroad by their father when her marriage broke down nine years ago. She has spoken with them five times over the phone, made numerous court appearances and was awarded custody of them but her husband refused to adhere to the court ruling. because he lives in India she has no support from the UK courts in her bid to have them returned. there are many many cases like this.


They are still 'kidnapped' children, and it's offensive to suggest only Madeleine McCann is missing


I won't hold my breath waiting for the McCanns to offer any of these families any financial assistance as and when ...
Reply:If it is good to search for one child via google etc then it should be the same to find all the missing children out there, if the McCann's are so bent on their publicity stunt then perhaps they should be dipping into their own pockets to fund their trips, sell their assets, move out to portugal, after all, when all's said and done, if they had not been away feeding their faces, this tragic case would not have happened. In my opinion ALL children are vulnerable, especially when they have gone missing.


What do you say to the parent of a 13 year old who has been missing for several months? Sorry, your kid is old enough to fend for themselves?

Who is to blame? I think the Media is to blame. Having said that, I think that this case highlighted the plight of missing children around the world.

there are no other missing children in the uk with the same circumstances as madeleine


madeleines young age makes her more vulnerable than any of the other missing children in the uk who are either old enough to have left of their own accord or known to have been taken by a relative





i know what your saying about it being a kick in the teeth for other missing children but the only reason madleine gets so much publicity and all of these things is because her parents have lead a very clever campaign whether people agree with their methods the fact is they are still talking about them and thinking of madeleine

seemly there was other kids that went missing the same day as maddy they made small headlines though and it was along side the news of maddy they appeared.


hard to know why this case is so big but i dont think it will be solved just yet.....but in time the truth will come.

Reply:I aggree. But i have to say that i think its entirely inapropriate for google to have maddies eyes on their page. People use google for everyday things. We would all like Maddie and every lost person to be found but i think some things are just too much. The world keeps turning and life goes on, atleast for the rest of us.
