Google & Java?

I wanna write a program using JAVA to get the HTML code of the result page by searching with the key word "asdf". But after setting the URL as follow

URL url = new URL("http://www.google.com/search?q=asdf...

and defining the InputStreamReader as follow

InputStreamReader isr=new InputStreamReader(url.openStre...

run it.

It says : Exception in thread "main" java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://www.google.com/search?q=asdf...

why?

Google %26amp; Java?
I suspect google knows when it is being queried by a typical Java program. Look at my code at the link below to do a less generic web page request.

BTW, I tested my solution and it DOES work.
Reply:Why don't you just use Google API to do queries?

Just go to Google Labs, its pretty easy

Google question?

Okay, i have a fan page of an artist on myspace and when you search the name, it comes up as the first thing on google... i have no idea how that happened lol ..and whyy?? lol but i also want to know if that is something i can control and how can i make something else be the first to come up on google just by searching the name

Google question?
Congratulations! It may come up first because you know exactly what to search for to make it come up! Also, the more hits a page gets, the further it moves up the result page.
Reply:you cannot control this, it is based on the relativity to the subject.

eg. The number of matches to the search word, the amount of relative information, the amount of other objects like pictures, links, and html code, and finally the number of views your page has recieved.

congratulations, this is a difficult thing to do!!!
Reply:If the name is unique, or made up of two words, then this more than likely was the case..

Or, if he's been at myspace for years and has links from many other websites ,so receive as lot of traffic!!

Also, if your searching the name "with" the myspace name then this is normal..

It could be many things and heres a few,

Google Stock Price?

How can the price of Google's stock be so high when this company does NOT make the profits. Is this not just another bubble. How can google continue to provide stuff for free - not earn revenue's - and still have a high stock price

Google Stock Price?
That's the beautiful thing about the stock market, you can make money if you have a contrarian opinion. Feel free to sell some short or to buy puts.
Reply:How could I know? Report It

Reply:Google does make a profit and the stock price is high (based on P/E) because it dominates SEARCH on the internert and because of its prospects for future growth.

The stock price itself is not a measure of how expensive a stock is. Valuation ratios and other factors compared to its competitors and the overall stock market itself determines stock value.

Nonetheless, is it too high? Probably.
Reply:I thought that they earn revenue from advertising.

Google Adwords Vs. Google Adsense?

I have heard a lot of people talk about the two of these. Do you have to be selling something to use them on your website? Can you use them on a site like angelfire or Geocities..the ones that are free? I have also heard you have to pay for Google Adsense...or pay for the clicks..?? I do not have that much of an understanding on this. Can someone help me? Is there any free information on this? I saw a webiste about Adestroyer or something..i am not looking to pay for any book or any tool that is just going to suck my wallet dry. Thanks.

Google Adwords Vs. Google Adsense?
You do not have to be selling anything on a website to use either of these. I'm not sure if you can use Google on Angelfire or Geocities as I do not use either one of those, but google is used on many free webhosting sites. I use blogger. You do not have to pay for any of the clicks unless you plan on using your own ads through Google, so forget about that. Actually , you do not have to pay for anything to use either Google tools.

I run a political blog so I can tell you that the click-ads will change based on your content, which is what you want to happen otherwise your viewers will get tired of seeing the same thing over and over.

I do think that Adsense is the better of the two. I can also tell you that it can take some time, depending on site content, to make any money off of the ads. Naturally, the more viewers of the site, the better the chances that the ads will be clicked.

Be aware that you have to make $100 in clicks before you are paid and that payment is held back until the end of the following month. Example: pay period from May 15 to June 15. You are paid on July 20th to 25. Direct deposit pays you by the 5th of the following month.

It took me 7 months to hit that $100 mark but it has been worth it sense then. There are other good services just like Google so don't limit yourself to just one company.

I did drop Google for another company which lets me pick my ads to be displayed. Only reason I left Google. Google is good for starters though

Need to know anything else, then email me.

There is no quick and easy way to make money on the net unless you're a scammer, so plan on being somewhat patient.

Reply:Hi,

Using Google AdSense do not need you to sell anything on your website. You only need to Sign Up for AdSense Account at AdSense Homepage or you can Sign Up at my blog.

You don't need to pay for Google AdSense. It is Free to join. But for Google AdWords, you will need to pay Google because you are using the AdWords to create your own Ads and Google will help you display your Ads. You will not need AdWords, as it is optional.

If you would like to know more about AdSense, you can visit my blog:

EARN ADSENSE MONEY:

Reply:This is the difference between the two:

Adwords are advertisements that you place either on other people's websites or on the sponsored links on search engines. You have to pay for these by bidding an amount - the more you bid the higher your ad will be placed.

Adsense are advertisements that are placed on your own website and when people click on them, you get a share of the revenue. The ads are always targeted to your website's content.

To get more information, go to Google and click on 'Advertising Programs' below the search box.

You will get information on both.

Google Adsense? get paid to post ads?

Ive been reading and doing some research, and im not quite understanding how this works.

Who is the ones getting paid?

im confused on how this works.

like is it if i sign up (which i did, where you enter address and all), do they send you a bill saying you owe them whatever for posting some ads?

Google Adsense? get paid to post ads?
WHAT IS IT EXACTLY?

Adsense is a way to monetize and earn money from your site by putting Google ads from their advertising network Adwords. They don't send you a bill because the program is free to join. And yes, you and Google will both earn from the ads and Google gives you your share.

It has been around since June 2003 and Adsense has allowed many website owners to earn from their sites. I highly recommend going through the Adsense Quick Tour to learn more about the program http://www.google.com/services/adsense_t...

HOW DOES IT WORK

You apply and once you get approved, you can put in the Adsense code in your site. Here are the instructions on how to add Adsense codes on your site https://www.google.com/adsense/support/b...

You earn through various ways:

1. Pay per click - this is the common way to earn which is you earn every time a visitor clicks on your ads

2. Pay per impression - an advertiser can specifically target your site and show ads where you earn via cost per 1,000 impression (e.g. you earn every time someone sees your ad, even though they don't click on it)

3. Referral - you can also earn if you refer a visitor to use Adsense or Adwords, download the Google toolbar, etc.

WHAT PERSONAL INFO DO I HAVE TO GIVE?

In the application form https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-sin... you will give

- your name

- your address

- if your country qualifies for electronic fund transfer and you wish to be paid by EFT, your bank details

- your SSN or tax account number if you are in the US as Google reports Adsense income to the IRS

IS IT WORTH IT AND HOW MUCH MONEY PER MONTH DOES IT BRING IN?

Some sites do very well with Adsense (even in the millions of dollars a year) while many more sites do extremely poorly with the program (can't even earn $10 a month). One of the misconception people have about Adsense is they simply slap it in their websites and it will automatically earn them big money -- which is not true as evidenced by the many disgruntled webmasters

Your income will depend on:

- the topic of your site (if you have high paying keywords you stand to earn more)

- responsiveness of users to ad (are visitors coming to your site with blinders in their eye or do they look at the ads as additional complementary resource)

- traffic (you earn more with more traffic, even if you have low paying keywords or other metrics)

- how you implement the ads on your site (some positions and colors work better than others)

I suggest you join the program (you've got nothing to lose as it is free) and see how your site will do with it. I've been with Adsense since June 2003 and it's been a GREAT income generating program for us. So for me, Adsense is definitely worth it
Reply:each time someone clicks on your "ad" google ad that you signed up with assuming you osted an ad with them. ...Each time someone clicks on that ad. you are charged. 5 cents 50 cents 98 cents, depends on the words and placement of the ad When someone purchases from your ad whatever it was that you were selling you get paid. (that is if you have your clickbank paypal or whatever acct set up correctly to link to you as the seller.) Normally you get paid a percentage of the purchase price.
