Can the techies out there tell me why when I click Google toobar search it goes to url http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=nav...

Why not simply the clean url http://www.google.com ?

webhp is to specify a web search, i presume the google toolbar also lets you search/access google images from the toolbar too as there is the image search equivalent of imghp:

http://www.google.com/imghp

http://www.google.com/webhp

likewise there are similar urls for google's other services:

[news] http://news.google.com/nwshp

[shopping] http://www.google.com/prdhp

sourceid=navclient is telling google where you came from (the google toolbar) and ie=UTF-8 is telling google what character encoding you are using in internet explorer, for compatibility.

basically it's just a crafted url to direct you to the right portion of google that you requested from the toolbar.
Reply:this is the way simple type google
