Hi all,
Do you think that google is the best search engine of all times and it's impossible to be created some new one, better?
Do you know that google only lists 30% from the pages in the whole internet (the rest unlisted in google pages are known as the "invisible web" ...check wikipedia about that term).
Best,
Bob
Is google the best?
No, Google isn't the best, but it is the most popular in the USA and UK -- which makes it the most popular.
Why use Google (or any of the 200 or so search engines) when you can use a METASEARCH ENGINE that searches more than one search engine at the same time -- including Google?!
For example, Ask.com searches Google as well as Altavista, Excite etc.
Seems pretty daft to restrict yourself to merely one...
Google are too powerful anyway -- didn;t they just throw BMW off for trying to get a better Google ranking?
Web designers go mad, and millions of web pages HAVE to be redesigned every time Google changes it's ranking rules -- which they do often. Web designers find a small loophole that gets their sites onto the first Google returns page, and Google discover the loophole and close it... it's been cat and mouse like that for years.
In the source code for web pages there are metatags that web designers use for search engines -- a description of the site, keywords and so forth. OK, so this got abused by a few unscrupulous folk, so Google no longer uses these tags at all. So Google descriptions tend to be the top menus, left menus or ads! Google-wise sites all have the navigation on the right side as a result!
The more sites that link to your site, the higher ranked you will be.
The more links from your site to other sites the higher ranked you will be.
In addition, each linked site is ranked, such that if a high ranked site links to you, then you get Google kudos.
But, last year (because everyone started doing a LINKS page for their site), the links have to be relevant and in the course of the text of each page!
Then recently, Google decided that each page has to have a keyword saturation -- and that the links had to relate to the saturation percentage!
Put simply, if you design and upload a website, if no-one links to you, if you link to no other site (why should you?), you take no Google Ads, banner exchange etc, and (heavens above) you use a frame set or even have your domain name point to a frame page (cloaked redirection), then Google will not find you.
You will be found within a very short time by hundreds of sites around the world -- you can submit directly to them, they will use your meta tags, keywords and text strings.
In summary... if you want to FIND relevant sites, use a MAJOR METASEARCH ENGINE, such as 20, 37, Beaucoup, Dogpile, Debriefing, IXQuick, Kartoo, Search.com, Vivisimo, etc. or use a directory engine or indexing engine (INDICE).
Google? pah! Hyped by men in suits!
Reply:gr8 job in givin such an answer.. Report It
Reply:No google is the best. If you use a meta search that searches 5 search engines, you get 5 times the number of Sponsored searches (bum fluff) Report It

Reply:it's the best as a full text search engine. but for deeper searches you should use this cluster search http://www.vivisimo.com/

or
intitle:”index of” (wma|au|wav|mp3|asf)
google has a hard and fast rule of only 10 search keywords including syntax words. anything over 10 is ignored so be careful how you word your searches
if you don't want to read this online to can get the same thing in the first few chapters of a book called google hacks. google employees contributed a lot to this book
here is a another site that will make searching google easier for those that don't want to read about it.

Reply:It depends what your criteria is, but for most things Yahoo! is better than Google.
Reply:Yahoo! is better.
Reply:for me its Google no doubt
Reply:no, yahoo is much better.
Reply:I still like it
Reply:I usually get the best results from Google, but I think the search engine as it currently exists is in a very primitive state.
For one example of what's missing, consider context. Is the information from a technical journal article, an advertisement, or a political opinion piece? You can try to bias the search towards a particular type of item by judicious choice of search terms, but it's still hit or miss. I want to be able to specify the context of the information, or to sort search results by category.
Also, to find the answer to a specific question, you have to guess what words are going to be in that answer. I want to be able to just ask the question, and let the search engine sort it out. If it needs more information, it needs to be smart enough to ask for it.
Basically, I think the search engine of the future will read web pages for meaning, not keywords.
Reply:Well, make a better search engine, you seem like you have the knowledge, and you'll be rich, think of how successful google is! Good luck with everything!
Reply:Altavista was better than Google before it was taken over by Yahoo. Yahoo kind of ruined Altavista for me as they both use the same search engine now. So Google is the best bet I think.
Reply:Google is the best search engine. If you go to Yahoo or any other search engine it will come up with less web pages then google. Use google!
Reply:Google is A great search engine.
This is because:
-Google is in more languages/dialects than other search engines
-Google has a sense of humor (april fools day franks spring to mind)
-Google is powerfull
-Google Releases free software (google sketchup, google earth, google pack)
-Google has gmail which has huge storage
-Google is more accepted than google.
Google should buyout yahoo awnsers

Custom Creation Paints have produced a number of specialty custom paints each with a character of their own. We specialize in custom spray paints, and all but two of our paints are applied with spray guns. Thermal Touch is one of our paints that can be applied with a brush. It is a heat-sensitive product, which means it reacts to heat and changes color with the rise in temperature, and unlike our original Thermalproduct, it is applied with a brush or roller. This makes it a perfect choice for your home, especially if you temperature of the want to add depth and dimension to your walls by allowing them to change colors faintly with the room. Even furniture can look great with Thermal Touch paints.
