Contacting Google?
Hello
When I log onto my GoogleMail, I press help so that I can cotact Google.
The problem is, I cannot find the part of the page that says "Contact us"
All there is are forums to ask other people.
No one else is going to be able to acsess Googles server inorder to prevent problems with a fault on those servers so that I can e-mail a company that has some e-mail adresses working and not others.
I know that some of the e-mails send from Google to some places and not others, last time it was only .gov it wouldn't send to.
Can you give me the approapriate contact adress for this to Google?

Does Google desktop have a cool optical effect on your computer?
This might work on your computer or it might be a problem with my screen, I want to know.
If you minimise Google desktop so that only the search box remains in the task bar and look at search box at right angles to the screen it should be white. But if you move your head so that you are looking at the search box from above you should be able to see the google logo appear very lightly.
I have never seen this happen before. Is it an intentional effect by google or just a problem with my screen?

It's New... thats all... I saw it also today... and I have Vista.
And why not try this... http://www.donkeydo.com/
Makes searching the web easier by responding results from Google, MSN, Yahoo. Uncover more of the web by searching multiple search engines at once. It's faster and better!
Saves you time by displaying your results in unique 3-column format unlike any other search engine.
Well...
1. its faster
2. if you want info to answer questions here, you get the top best searchs.
3. Just a suggestion.. thought you might enjoy it.

My Google Toolbar is missing in IE and WinXP won't let me uninstall. Tried reinstalling it, didn't work.
I'm on Windows XP with IE 6. Recently, my Google Toolbar
disappeared. If I right-click on my IE toolbars, I can see it there,
unchecked. But, when I try to check Google, to add it, it won't let
me. Same thing if I go to the View Toolbars menu. Then, I tried
uninstalling Google Toolbar, without any success. It won't uninstall.
I've also tried reinstalling over the application and that doesn't my
problems either. No matter who logs onto the PC, they have the same
problem.
HELP!
My Google Toolbar is missing in IE and WinXP won't let me uninstall. Tried reinstalling it, didn't work.
Download the latest version of Google toolbar and try to install it again. If still you are unable to install, then you will have to search the registry entries of Google toolbar and delete it.
Once you have removed the registry entries try installing it again.

Help! Google Charged Me?
Hi i need help finding googles contact number. I checked my bank statement today and Google had charged me almost $200. I never use google!! Nor do i ever buy anything from google. Why are they charging for? And have anyone had this experience before?
Help! Google Charged Me?
I don't think you should be contacting google just yet, because this sounds to me like someone has obtained your debit card details and used it for a google service such as google ads, or in other words fraud.
You should get in contact with your bank as soon as possible to find out what to do.
Hope I have helped you and good luck

Reply:Contact your bank immediately and dispute it on you card. It is possible somebody charged it to you account. Also get a hold of google services. I would also request a new card and have my old one cancelled!

GOD exists according to Google?
59,900,000 Search Results Evidence of Deity, Experts Agree
In the most conclusive evidence of a Supreme Being ever discovered,
a Google™ search of God has proved once and for all that He exists,
theologians agreed today.
“To those doubters out there who still don’t believe that God exists,
I have just one piece of advice: Google™ Him,” said Dr. George Darlington
of the University of Minnesota Divinity School.
The Google™ search of God turned up over 59 million websites
featuring Him, a number that theological scholars around the world
said makes God’s existence an open and shut case.
The stunning discovery, expected to wipe out atheism worldwide,
was made entirely by accident by Jason Blivens, 22, a video-store
clerk in Tacoma, Washington.
Speaking to reporters today at his home, Mr. Blivens said he meant
to do a Google™ search of the word “bod” but accidentally typed
the letter “g” instead of “b.”
“As soon as those search results came up, I immediately alerted
the authorities,” Mr. Blivens said. “I knew this was something big.”
In contrast with the 59 million sites found for God, a Google™ for
Satan turned up only 3 million sites, suggesting that God is much
more powerful than Satan, as theologians have long argued.
But in a finding that some scholars called worrisome, Paris Hilton
turned up on over 3.5 million sites, indicating that the hotel
heiress has actually eclipsed the Lord of Darkness as a force for
evil.
In a positive development, however, “good” received 178 million
search results while “evil” snagged only 17 million, 16 million of
those stemming from foreign policy speeches by President George
W. Bush.
GOD exists according to Google?
I'm a little slow... I was about to go off about ethical standards of reporting (I happen to be a reporter) when I realized -- I hope -- this is a joke. The obvious gap between the facts and the claim, the sources who all seem to be like those rednecks that always find UFO's and meteors and somehow get quoted in print. Plus there are some AP things that are a little off (a reporter would probably never print "Mr. Blivens," only "Blivens").
But seriously, you had me going until about half-way through. This is pretty good.

In www.google.com, how i can customize my name instead of Google?
You can't do it. That is a website written in code and the "google" you are talking about is an image. There is nothing you can do to change it on your monitor.
Reply:It is not possible to do with www.google.com link but you can create a webpage of your own and make it look like google.com interface keep your name where you want and simply place the Google search box where the actual google search box is.

I think Google toolbar is freezing up my Internet Explorer page?
I have a Dell computer and windows xp...I have yahoo toolbar plus google toolbar the only reason i have google toolbar is because it has spell checker...I have not been able to fine it for yahoo toolbar..Every time i unhide google toolbar it slows my pc down...But, If i hide the toolbar it does not..Unless i have to many programs running..Has this happen to anyone else? That uses google..Are there anyone that knows where i can get spell checker with yahoo toolbar?
I think Google toolbar is freezing up my Internet Explorer page?
Ok, If you want a really good spell checker without the hassles of tool bars then download Mozilla Firefox. Firefox has a built in spell checker that is a great tool. =]. As for the yahoo and google toolbars. Just uninstall them after you install Firefox, toolbars just use unnecessary resources when browsing the net.
Edit:
It will stay that way as long as you keep the computer clean, virus wise. =]. Anymore questions dont be afraid to email me @ 2007CEO@gmail.com

Is Google too much?
Hello,
I would like to know if I am not alone when it comes to Google.com- I think that I know how Google PageRank works, but it appears as though there is too much advertising.
Is there a way we can promote new sites? Google only gathers info from sites that are commonly visited ,therefore; working it to the top. Who wants to help me think of a better way to assist new sites? the only way they are getting anywhere is by paid marketing; who can afford to market intensively to compete with the large companies?!
I think that we can combine our knowledge and work something out....
Any comments?
Is Google too much?
google rocks.
theres a reason its at the top.
if you want to create a site with more hits than google, create a site better than google.
and good luck with that.
Reply:"but it appears as though there is too much advertising" - this is an unsubstantiated statement, who says ?
Google picks up new sites in minutes

"the only way they are getting anywhere is by paid marketing" soooo not true - where do you get this stuff from ?

If I search in Google or Yahoo it returns pages of search results?
ten per page. How can I EXPORT ALL the results of a search query into a DATABASE format for offline manipulation? The fields would be Page Title, URL, Short Description, Search Rank. My database has much more features of finding the information in the search results export than Google itself has. I wrote this to Google that I want to be able to use SQL to query their database and they said they only had the Google API for accessing the search results. I dont have time or patience to write programs using Google API. Why doent Google allow me to just export all the results (or the first 5000 results) into a Db format?
If I search in Google or Yahoo it returns pages of search results?

Has Google become an everyday word in your life?
When your child says "What's the temperature at the North Pole?" do you say 'Google it."? Do you Google yourself? How often do you use the word Google?

Is Google going to make Yahoo go out of business?
First, nobody uses yahoo search. Everyone uses google. Google is much better.
Second, yahoo answers is stupid and pathetic. Most of the people on here report every question for no reason and the people answering aren't even serious.
GOOGLE WILL MAKE YAHOO GO OUT OF BUSINESS WITHIN 5 years..that's for sure.
Is Google going to make Yahoo go out of business?
Yes. Google's stock is rising meanwhile Microsoft is trying to buy Yahoo, but Yahoo is shrinking.
Yahoo will become defunct.
JNB...nobody prefers yahoo search engine over google. Google has more applications and is mandatory at many universities/etc.
Reply:I do not think so. Google and Yahoo both have their special things, like answers.yahoo.com is unique to Yahoo. Plus people who like Yahoo will most likely stay with Yahoo.

How can Google be involved in internet scams???
In trying to find a PS3, I came across BigWinterDeal, only accepting Western Union, referencing EICAFraud.org. Yahoo Answers really helped me determine this is a scam. However, I found this scammer via a Google Sponsored link. How can Google accept ad revenue from such an obvious internet scam? In my mind this calls into question every Google Sponsored Link. I know "Buyer Beware" but I feel internet giants like Google and Yahoo have an obligation weed out obvious scam businesses before doing business with them. Do they do Due Dilegence? How about Corporate respnsibility? Are they not liable if assisting a known scammer to do business?
How can Google be involved in internet scams???
Google Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Search both have very extensive terms of use for their advertisers...
However they also have a lot of them so if you found something... simply contact Google. They'll investigate it and remove it.
Neither company wants to create a "bad" wrap for themselves. It's just good business. Other legitimate companies want you to report them as well since they destroy the Internet market.

Reply:Contact google.com and let them know. They thousands of advertisers, if not more, on their site.
Reply:they don't care...its all about the money and they can feign ignorance when confronted.
Reply:It's all about making money. The company paid money for advertising and google allowed it. as long as the ad was not bad as in profane or risque.

The "client" software is the software on the user's computer.
Google run's the "server" software for it.
To answer your question, you do want to download the client software.

Why wont google pack do anything?....see details?
when i download google pack it doesnt do anything. It downloads and installs and then it just sits on my taskbar at 0%.I cant open it,when i try,the window comes up blank,it says google updater at the top of it and thats it.Most of the time it ends up freezing and eventually freezes my computer.I have tried downloading it several different times with 3 different browsers.I uninstall it every time too.At first it appears to work, but then none of the programs start to download, when i minimize it,thats when it starts to freeze up.Its not like i can just download all the programs seperately, one at a time because some of them require the google updater, like norton.Things like google earth and what not,i can though.

When downloading Google Earth, whats the difference if I select Run or Save from File Download Security Warnin
When downloading Google Earth, whats the difference if I select Run or Save from the File Download Security Warning Dialog Box? They both seem to place the Google Earth in my Settings and Documents. If I turn off/on the computer I can still access Google Earth whether I choose to Run it or Save it during download. If I select Run the download procedure is more automatic and quicker with less things I have to do. If I chose to Save, then I can choose where I can save it to, but it still places a part of Google Earth in Settings and Documents I am hoping there are other differences. Thank You.
When downloading Google Earth, whats the difference if I select Run or Save from File Download Security Warnin
i think there is no more differences if u save file it will b save as a back up also if u run that files will b saved temparary and after installation those files will b deleted
Reply:When you click Save it saves the installation files to the destination folder, not the application, whereas if you just click Run it will run the installation file but it will be a temporary file that will be deleted once you clean your cookies and stuff out. To change where Google Earth is located you have to change the directory in the installation process
Reply:Either of the ways u select, the setup files will definitely be downloaded to your local machine first. Its only that opting "Run", will save the files in temporary folder(as in ur case, documents %26amp; settings) and start installation automatically but will get deleted gradually once the maximum limit of the folder is exceeded. So it will reside in the folder until its in limit size. Whereas if u choose to 'Save', it will ask u to select a folder u want to save the files in. This will not get deleted automatically and u can keep it for installations in future!

How does google capture/accomplish the new street view imagery in Google Maps?
I just discovered the google Street View functionality in Google Maps. It doesn't show up in most streets, but I've found several that it does on. Just curious...how does Google accomplish this? Did they send photographers out to take street level 360 degree photos every 20 feet or so on all of these streets or is this somehow accomplished from satallite photos? Any insight for a curious mind is appreciated.

A truck drives around takeing pictures at regular intervals automatically
Reply:They have a van equipped with a 360 degree radius, that drives and takes pictures every so often. Thats the only way I can think of it. I have wondered the same thing too.. It is crazy what they can do now.
Reply:They use a 360 degree camera mounted to a car and just drive up and down all these streets.

Does google collect too much personal information?
"Google’s ambition to maximise the personal information it holds on users is so great that the search engine envisages a day when it can tell people what jobs to take and how they might spend their days off.
Earlier this year, however, Google bowed to concerns from privacy activists in the US and Europe, by agreeing to limit the amount of time it keeps information about the internet searches made by its users to two years."

Why Google surrounder to evil?
Help Chinese Communist Party to filt the information which they don't like. In another words, google.cn's reslut only include hate propaganda of CCP.
Only for Money, that's not worth of it! To me, google is google no more!
Why Google surrounder to evil?
Yahoo, Cisco and Microsoft are no different either...they've all done the same thing. You have to ask yourself though, is a censored internet better than no internet at all? If the Chinese government couldn't censor it (the Internet)...then they wouldn't allow it at all... period.
The real problem here isn't so much Yahoo!, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, etc., but the Chinese government.

Why does Google Distribute Libel?
"At a time when Google proposes to amass ever more sensitive and personal information on Internet users worldwide, Google's lack of responsibility in actively distributing unsupported libel has given many, real cause for concern. It is the unique status of libel law in America that allows Google immunity from prosecution from anything they publish on www.google.com. And yes, that includes anything they'd like to publish about you" claims Brian Retkin Director dotWORLDS.
Why does Google Distribute Libel?
What exactly is Google publishing on "www.google.com"? All I see there is a single input form object and a few links to additional Google services. Maybe you mean the Google News site. Wait, they are only providing a mashup of information from other news sources and provide direct links to those sites. So where exactly is Google publishing this information? They really seem more like a central location to find information that is already available online from other sites (i.e. a search engine), much like Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista, and others.
Reply:It's there on www.google,com if you want to see it (as well as the news section).
and we should also note that ........In stark contrast to what many see as a total disregard for the reputation of its users........Google vehemently protects their own privacy. According to a September 4, 2005 story in the Sunday Times Online by Dominic Rushe, a recent public relations fiasco occurred after Google banned their staff from talking to CNet reporters for one year. It transpired that the ban was Google's response to CNet's publication of personal information about Dr. Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO. It was then learned that not only was the information already in the public domain, but the same information about Schmidt was also available on Google's own websites.
Google's reaction to CNet was inconsistent with its handling of a man who had been falsely accused as a pedophile by his wife during divorce hearings. His name and photograph were posted on a police website but were removed after the charges were dropped. However, having picked up the story, Google did not remove the pictures or postings it had published on its search engine. According to Pam Dixon, executive director of the World Privacy Forum (WPF), the page remained accessible through Google and was only removed after a long struggle.
Of course Google survived the naming of their CEO by CNET. Still, whatever happened to the falsely accused man. Does anybody know. It is the weakest that are most vulnerable in this arena and they are also the least able to defend themselves.
How would you respond to waking up to find that your life, your family, your career had been ruined by someone who had knowingly libelled you - lied about you for their own purposes - and who was able, via Googles systems, to hide themelves under a cloak of anonymity.
Who will be the next victim?

Will google linux b successful?
I missed that one. I've been following Google's adventures into operating systems for months but the Linux one has slipped by me. I just did a search and you're on the button. Google Australia is advertising for Linux engineers and one blog in the UK reported on it. My sources have been talking about something completely different. A Google OS to connect directly with the Internet. It's suggested it will be via a Set Top Box with payment being made through newsagents etc. The cost is muted at around $5, 10 per month. This is for people who only want the Internet, not PC users as such. All you will need is a keyboard. All storage, software etc., will be online so you can take your keyboard wherever you go. Google have been purchasing all the unused fibre optic cable in the world and they're currently laying a cable to Australia.
Firefox and Google will probably merge, but Thunderbird will get the flick. It's interesting about Linux because I thought that many people would probably opt for the Google Internet setup and go for a Play Station for home media. Linux is a logical choice. I hope it happens and happens fast. The sooner I can rid myself of Microsoft the better. They've been ripping us off for too long.
In answer to your question, yes it has to be successful. No game or media developers have made software for Linux because they've been in bed with Microsoft and Linux is free. Once google puts it name to Linux officially, everything will be immediately available on that os.
Reply:Yes. People trust Google a lot these days. Their technical prowess is creating awe among the masses. Considering that, Google's distro should be successful.

Is Google going to go out of style?
I used to be a google fanatic, but ever since I got on yahoo answers I found that this is a better way to find answers to the random stuff I used to google. And it's more fun too, since you hear from real people.
So could google be going out of style.
Is Google going to go out of style?
yes absolutely
Reply:google will NEVER go out of style....because of everything new that is opening up in google, like Gmail, and Gtalk... I use Gmail! I LOVE GOOGLE. MY whole team at school uses Gmail and Google Groups for a big project! It helps a lot!! You should get your own Gmail account. just go to Google.com and then type in Gmail
Good Luck!
Reply:I firmly belive that google will never go out of style. why? because on Yahoo answers you dont find all the links that u need.
Power to the GOOGLE!
Reply:google now spews 1 ,000,000+hits for every entered search.

"Hacked" Google page?
I clicked a link on a forum, it said google.. but, it took me to this site (don't click on it) www.google.com/xx-hacker... so.. even if I type www.google.com it go's to that page =\. How do I fix this? any help is appreciated and Thank you in advance
"Hacked" Google page?
Don't worry its not spy-ware or anything serious, It's a joke page, but I think the reason it constantly pops up is that Google's remembered the page for you (like preferences). Just type in http://www.google.com/ncr
This should work, because I typed in your link, and it worked for me and I have normal Google again. If you go to language preferences on their page you can see all different types of 'joke pages' as well, eg. Hacker (The one you had) and Pig Latin etc.
So it's nothing to worry about.
Reply:You need to do a spyware scan. You browser got hi-jacked by a piece of spyware. I personally use
XoftSpySE: http://easylnk.com/?2020 for spyware scanning, it works wonders. Be careful what links you click on!
Reply:Try clearing your cache, and maybe history. Go to "tools" in your internet browser, and choose "internet settings", or if it's there, "delete browsing history". At least clear the cache.

Why do people keep using Google when Yahoo is the best?
Google is trashing the web with it algorithm. Google sponsored adds are everywhere and I can not find what I am looking for, unless someone has PAID to get listed. Even Yahoo listing has Google adds on them. I see Yahoo attempting to bridge the gap, but I still see Google everywhere. yahoo categories are more relavant and the content has more, well, content not more google adds. is google that much easier to type in the yahoo does it feel better to say or has yahoo out lived its family stardum. thanks

Why Google and Yahoo search engines indexing a white person’s report faster than black person's report.
I know if the story is involving a white person it will get more press coverage but my question is why Google and Yahoo favor a story which is written by a white reporter. I have been following several stories for long time. Most of the time the news never end to the Google's or Yahoo's news alert and index until the story is picked by a white reporter. It is true every where. I thought Google and Yahoo search engines are color blind? May be the stereo type racist engineers (the boss and management) (I know most of them will be Indians and will not do that) the management behind the seen are turning this search engines to a racist evil machine?
Why Google and Yahoo search engines indexing a white person’s report faster than black person's report.
I think you are reading WAAAY to much into things. Maybe the press that is written by the White reporter is coming from a more main stream source.

Why is google so popular?
I just dont see why or how Google is so popular ... I have tried the same search on both search engines many times and yahoo always comes up with information relevant to what im searching for....google on the other hand never comes up with anything relevant , really it seems the results you get are just the first random pages that have the words or word you typed in the search block..........ive tried being open minded about it and tried to like it, but its just not my cup of tea. ......... Its almost like because people say google this or google that, it must be popular or cool........, that is so "lamb" like...., ive been using the internet for almost 10 years now since the dial up days, so its not like i havent used a search engine before .........so tell me why is it so popular? try it yourself, run the search engines side by side before you answer, and tell let me know how it goes.
Why is google so popular?
Exactly, I always use yahoo! as my homepage and my search engine. People kept on telling me to use google, but I never listen. i say to them"when you need to check youremail or see who won in basketball, which site do you use, google or yahoo?" No brainer, since I dont think google has a sports section. And like you said, google and yahoo search basically the same thing, so really.......no difference.
What i like yahoo the most is the page, i mean everything you need to for the day(like temperature, etc)its right there. Google is just a plain page with a search engine. Nothing there, really. Most people tell me that google searches more stuff, but as far as I have searched, the results were the same. So, maybe google has one or two more searchs, but really, when is the last time you went through all the pages in a search.....?

What it is, is google results are far too revenue driven. As in what every you search for you get the ones who paid the most rather than what best fits your request.
Yahoo is way better for relevant results, but i sense they are trying to build up their search revenue too so we may loose relevant results with yahoo.

Is google adsense allowed in image galleries?
I have a huge image gallery and i want to put google adsense in it..Does google allow this ? if no den is dere any idea u can suggest to make it possible?so that google can approve my site for adsense.
Is google adsense allowed in image galleries?
You can try to apply with your site to see if your site will be accepted by Google Adsense. I know of some image galleries type of sites that use Adsense so it must be allowed.
However, you will be faced with two problems:
- You need to put text in your site to have targeted ads. Adsense mediabot will not be able to read your images, so the more text on the page, the better
- You might find the ads to be low-paying, with fewer advertisers and your ads getting low clickthrough rates as art is not typically a competitive space in Adwords. Hence, income from Adsense may not be what you are expecting
But try it and apply at http://www.google.com/adsense - making sure that your pages have lots of text on them in addition to the images. This way you stand a better chance at getting accepted to the program
Reply:They let you store up to 2 giga pics and video

Reply:Yes, you can do it without any worry. If you have doubts plz read adsense policies at adsense.com

Limewire was made for that purpose (downloading mp3s, movies, etc.)
Though it does have some viruses, so you need to be careful of what you download.
Reply:If you are looking for movies or mp3s, Limewire is better. You have to type a lot in Google including that index of blah blah, unlike Limewire, you just have to type what you're looking for.
And for the results, I don't know, I think Limewire is still better because it is designed for that unlike Google, it is designed to search for websites.
Reply:using any P2P downloading network like limewire is illegal, but you probably won't find too much on google. limewire has lots more stuff because you can download it frm other peoples computers.

Why did google say "invalid clicks?"?
why did google say "invalid clicks?"?
Why this google say invalid clicks and suspend account. as i know there were not any invalid clicks. i wonder whether it happens when we update our site. same thing happened to a freind of mine and he says same things. we do not have to click on our banners where we have a heap of works to do. dont know what happened to google.anyway i ask them about this but reply was not sufficient. are ther any other good adsense program than google? what about Yahoo? Does Yahoo answer these questions????? thanx
Why did google say "invalid clicks?"?
Even if you didn't click on your own Ads, chances are your account will not be reinstated. The best thing you can try to do is offer to send Google any server logs from your website for when they think the fraud happened, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Unfortunately, Google retains the right to close your account at any time for any reason they see fit.
The Yahoo Publisher Network is currently in beta testing, and you must apply to get in to it. If you are accepted in to the program, you will find that the ads are not as closely targetted as the AdSense ads were, thus your CTR % will not be as high as it was on AdSense. This doesn't, however, mean you won't be earning as much. The amount that YPN tends to pay out per click is usually much greater than you would be receiving on AdSense. Check out http://publisher.yahoo.com/
Reply:im not sure but when im looking up greenday or something and a big orange hand comes up i double click it.

SEO ==> google doesn't update?!??!?!?
I upated my website a long time a go and it's been like 2 month that im waiting for google to update my website on google's index.
Anybody else has the same problem?
the last time google updated my website was 15 Jul 2007
SEO ==%26gt; google doesn't update?!??!?!?
Hi,
It depends on how often you add new content to the site. Google and the other search engines will only come back as often as you update the content i.e. if you update the content once every couple of weeks then the search engines will come back every couple of weeks.
Looking at adding a news section to your site which updates at least once a week. This will help you get your content indexed quicker with the search engines.

A google bug?
sometimes a term in a page does exist in google indices, but you can't extract this page by running a google search with this term. any ideas?
for instance, an uncommon term A exists in page B, when you run a google search with A, there are less than 50 results. but you can't find page B in the results set.
why does this happen?

This would be a better question for the good folks over in the computer section of yahoo answers.

major websites have local servers at many countries.. if any website has a server at india, then it ends with .co.in or .in only. rest of the website is same.
local servers are installed to cope with large number of users at a place, to provide them with faster services.. so, when u type google.com on ur address bar, the request first goes to the india server, and it serves u with the .co.in page..
so there's no problem with ur pc or ur softwares... go surfing with these sites...
Reply:plz can u say wats your error report or wat kind of problem you are facing. state it clearly then only i can say wats the reason and how can rectify it.
Reply:Reinstall IE.
day before i download Mozilla Firefox and tried over it but no.....
Plz help me
iam asking this second time here plz.............

Why and How Does google opens a www.google.co.in page when we type www.google.com in india?
Why and How Does google opens a www.google.co.in page when we type www.google.com in india? Can we use This options in our website also? Does this depends on the facilities provided by the hosting service provider or it is in source code of the website?
Why and How Does google opens a www.google.co.in page when we type www.google.com in india?
It knows what country you are in from your ip address and redirects you to a local Google.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Address
You can use a proxy to hide you ip if you want to access Google.com. E.g. http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html
You would probably need a US proxy for that.
Reply:Actually theses are settings configured at DNS Servers, This can be provided by hosting service providers by using URL Forwarding.. Or the other way is to directly redirect page using any scripting language based on the IP Culture, as mentioned above. Report It

Microsoft vs google?
Who do you support. Either microsoft or google. I like google only search and and their new services like gmail and docs. But myself i will support microsoft a lot. becoz, microsoft does lot for people. but google what they did for people, especially poors.
And recently live services from microsoft is getting lot better and I am sure it will beat google and rule the search engine world. What is ur opinion about live services too?
Microsoft vs google?
um.. google all the way.. live search is like the old search for windows XP, it just DOESNT work. i have actually tested it. it just doesnt work, kind of like everything else windows makes..
Reply:I have never seen Bill Gates pay my Rent or put food on my table
I would support both of them if they hired me
Reply:uh, not one of these "death" polls again.
i prefer google, although google doesnt provide home pc OS.
microsoft on the other hand is good, but the OS is not the best out there, even though im using it now.
i know they spend a portion of their money in helping poor ppl and aids research and whatnot, which is good.
but for search engines google is the best by far, and the most accurate too.
note: try search for a microsoft serial on live.com and then do another search in google. see the difference lol.
Reply:Google pwns searching. It's all it really does. Microsoft is an OS, with little gimmicks on the side. But I would love a Google Linux.

Is everyone aware that Google constantly spies on us?
Previous questions seemed to focus on Google being evil for its size and certain questionable activities (China, etc).
However, I am concerned about Google's continuous spying. According to the tech people at Netscape:
Google records everything they can:
For all searches they record the cookie ID, your Internet IP address, the time and date, your search terms, and your browser configuration. (see http://tech.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/...
*Should we give up using Google?
*Is it safer to use, Yahoo, MSN, and Dogpile searches?

Reply:I don't care!!..let them keep spying.
I'll always search anything i want on google or anyother search engine.
If they didn't want us to search for it,why would they allow it to be registered in their database at the first place.?
So far as i am not a criminal....why would i be afraid of them?.
Reply:Any site you visit can gather that information. It's not like this is a trade secret. The problem is not that they record it, it's what they do with it.
If they use it to recall searched words I used recently, for my own benefit, I don't care. If they share that information without using anything that would point to me is ok too. But if my IP is shared... Now, that's something I don't like. Though that info would be available to police, etc
This is also something that is quite often used. There are a LOT more info your browser gives.

Blackberry help...(google mobile maps)?
i have a blackberry 8310 for at%26amp;t and i want to download google maps mobile on it... the site says that i need a data plan for it to be free... ( im guessing) so what kind of plan do i need and is it actually 100% free...
p.s. i have unlimited internet on my blackberry
thanks
whenever i go on it, it asks me something like ' google maps has requested to use your gps capability... would you like to accept this/" when i put in "no" the application shows exactly where i am in the country... is this normal for google maps or is this google maps using a data plan that i dont have and costing me money??? thanks again
p.s.i dont have a gps plan..... ( that is if they even have one lol)
Blackberry help...(google mobile maps)?
With your unlimited plan you will be able to use Google Maps Mobile any time you like. This will not cost you anything on top of your regular monthly bill.
Check out this link for some detailed info about the application http://www.bbgeeks.com/software-reviews/...
As far as the GPS functionality is concerned, the maps application will always try and use GPS to determine your location as accurately as possible.
Since you do not have GPS functinality on your BlackBerry, the application will use the cell phone towers around you to determine your location as accurately as possible.
If you are in an area with many cell phone towers, the position on the map will be very close to where you really are. In areas where there are fewer towers, the accuracy of your location will be decreased.

Why is google displaying MORE results if you EXCLUDE additional words trying to slim down the results?
Example:
Google: torrent paris: 290,000 hits.
Google: torrent paris -wallpaper: 2,160,000 hits
I see this very often when trying to slim down the number of search results. Often, the opposite effect is the result.
Obviously, Google does something wrong when searching it's databases. But what?
I have to emphasize that i DO NOT ask how to change my search strategy.
Technically, if i search for all sites with these words combined:
torrent paris
then the number of search results should be greater than if i search for sites which include
torrent paris
but exclude
wallpaper
.
(Too bad btw that i can't use leading spaces above - Yahoo deletes them.)
You can test it yourself by using other words. Often the number of results are lower if you enter more search demands, but often it does not - which is, to say the least, weird.
Please, don't turn the question into something else. I'm only interested in how Google's search methods work and why they don't follow logic.

your hits are inaccurate....
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en%26amp;q=t... is 259,000
wheras http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en%26amp;q=t... 291,000

How do you make Google Earth launch Firefox instead of Internet Explorer?
When I click a link in Google Earth, I want the linked site to be displayed in Firefox. Google Earth keeps launching Internet Explorer even though Firefox is registered as my default browser.
I've found no setting in Google Earth to set the web browser it uses. Nor is Google Earth using the default web browser registered. Is there a key in the registry that I can change to tell Google Earth to use Firefox? I've tried several to no avail.
How do you make Google Earth launch Firefox instead of Internet Explorer?
It is not a problem of Google Earth, but your default browser which is IE. Set the default browser as firefox and Google Earth will open the link in the active window of Firefox.
To set this goto Tools%26gt;Options and in the General tab in Options Window select "Firefox should check to see if it is default browser when starting" in "Default Browser" Groupbox.

My Google search is acting strange?
I'm using IE7, and don't want to switch to anything else. I have Google search in my toolbar, and it works okay. When the google toolbar opens the google search page the result links work fine, but I can't load the next search page or type in a new search on the search page. An error shows up on the bottom left. Here are its details:
Line: 63
Char: 3
Error: 'color' is null or not an object
Code: 0
I've tried reloading Java and that didn't fix it.
Any other suggestions besides reloading IE7? Or is that my only/best option?

what you have to do is instead of using google search bar use google.com
Reply:I have the same problem and using google.com doesn't solve it. This problem has only recently manifested (this month) but I notice that if I log on as a different user (i.e. not administrator) the problem vanishes. Report It

Top google hits page somewhere?
hey, where an i find current top google hits? as in yesterday today, not "most googled in 2007." -which is what i found through google. does google themselves have a separate page for those?
Top google hits page somewhere?
They only publish stats like that once a year, and even then it's not really accurate. They pull out all the porn-related search terms and other things, as well.

Does Google Analytics filter out search engine spiders and bots?
Our Web hosting agency provides us with Web Trends (a version from the dark ages) yet they refuse to apply the browsers.ini filter to our tracking configuration to filter out search spiders. My company does not want to switch hosting agencies because the one we have is so reasonably priced. So, I am considering setting up Google Analytics for our sites. I don't want to wind up in the same situation though - does Google Analytics filter out search engine bots from tracked data?
According to our dark ages Web Trends, search spiders are approximately 75% of our traffic. Therefore I completely mistrust the accuracy of pretty much all the metrics - visits, page views, average visit duration, bounce rate, etc. Do you think Google Analytics can provide us with a more accurate measure of our sites' performance???
Does Google Analytics filter out search engine spiders and bots?
I think you can swicth to other hosting service that is a better option for you. check this http://www.bodhost.co.uk/ for cheap services.

Why google Earth is slow zoom or move problem?
Google Earth is slow whhyyy google earth slow Los Angeles or New york city look building but slow on google earth why?
Why google Earth is slow zoom or move problem?
yes what the others said is true make sure your RAM is at least 50% free because google earth uses a lot of memory, its what us tech geeks call a (memory intensive) application and u can always try seeing if your internet connection is the issue or try going to the run command and typing "msconfig" and "disable all" on the start-up tab and frees a lot of Virtual memory and paging file space up by doing that if i can be of any more assistance please let me know.

How to delete past searches from Searchbar?
You can clear your Google search history from the Google search box, the Google Toolbar, or your browser. We've included instructions for all three methods below.
CLEARING YOUR GOOGLE SEARCH BOX HISTORY
The search history that displays in the search box on the Google homepage is stored by your browser, not by Google. Instructions appear below for disabling this search history in common browsers. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its online support center.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options" and the "Content" tab.
3. Within the "Personal information" area, select "AutoComplete."
4. Click on "Clear Forms." You can also un-check the "Forms" box in this window to keep this information from being stored in the future.
5. Click "OK" to exit.
Alternatively, you can delete individual entries from your search history by using the Down arrow key to highlight a previous search, then pressing the Delete key once.
MSN
If you're using the Microsoft Network (MSN), changes made in Internet Explorer (IE) will take effect in your MSN browser. After making changes in IE, you'll need to sign out of and back into MSN for the changes to take effect.
Mozilla Firefox
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Options" %26gt; "Privacy" %26gt; "Saved Form Information."
3. Click "Clear" and un-check the box.
4. Click "OK" to exit.
Safari
1. Go to the "Safari" menu and select "Preferences."
2. From the menus that pop up, select "Autofill."
3. Go to "Other forms" line and select the "Edit" button.
4. From the list of sites for which AutoFill is currently being applied, select "Google.com" %26gt; "Remove" %26gt; "Done."
CLEARING YOUR GOOGLE TOOLBAR HISTORY
To clear your search history from the drop-down text box on the Google Toolbar:
1. Click on the Google logo on the Toolbar to access the drop-down menu.
2. Select the "Clear Search History" option.
If you'd like to completely disable your Toolbar's search history, please click the "Options" button on your Toolbar and un-check the box next to "Drop-down search history."
If you have Google Toolbar 4.0 installed, you can clear your Toolbar's search history by starting to enter a search term in your Toolbar's search box. When your drop-down search history appears, simply click the "Clear History" link.
Please note that this only clears the search history from the Google Toolbar, which is entirely separate from the search history stored by your browser.
If you've followed these steps and information still appears in your Toolbar search box as you type, please visit http://www.google.com/support/bin/answer... for additional assistance.
CLEARING YOUR BROWSER HISTORY
Like your Google search box history, the search history that displays in the address bar on the Google homepage is stored by your browser, not by Google. 4. Click "OK" to exit.
Safari

Reply:Almost in all cases an application set on the workstation is more stable than an application that runs of the internet.
This can be argued especially w/ the windows operating system. But the application that runs off the internet is really made for open source use. Meaning that the online app is capabable of running on any computer, at any time, anywhere.
This is a concept of how Google is attempting (in it's products) to virtualize the computer experience. Apps such as G-Docs, or G-spreadsheets run on an open source online apps that can work on any computer and can be accessed from anywhere.
The desktop G-talk product was made primarily so it would no longer have to rely on the internet browser.
You have to ask yourself what's better. The G-talk program running through the internet browser such as 'internet explorer' which has the famous reputation of having 'App hangs' or would u rather the program not depend on another program in order to run.
When you check your gmail you'll notice that G-talk is by default activated in the left hand corner, u can disable this by choosing an option on the bottom that eliminates it from operating.
In this way you can save some bandwidth.
Hope I helped.

Instructions appear below for clearing and/or disabling your search history in common browsers. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its online support center.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options" and the "General" tab.
3. Click the "Clear History" button. To completely disable the history function, set "Days to keep pages in history" to zero ("0").
4. Click "OK" to exit.
2. Select "Options" %26gt; "Privacy" %26gt; "History."
3. Click on "Clear." To completely disable the history function, set "Remember visited pages for the last X days" to zero ("0").

Safari
1. Click "History" on the top menu.
2. Click "Clear History" at the bottom of the menu.

What is google UK?
What is this google UK? When i type in www.google.com it takes my to the google.co.uk What is this? It is in English and all but what is it for? How do i get it back to the standard english. I tried changing it on the language but when i left google and tried to come back again it took me to the UK. Thanks for your help!
What is google UK?
It has automatically determined you are from UK from your IP address. Your IP address contains digits that show your ISP (internet service provider [e.g. Tiscali, Aol, Wanadoo].
*EDIT*
Who thumbed this down!? This is something that Google did to me when I went to Google.com and I discovered it was because of my IP address.
He asked why it was that Google redirected him from .com to co.uk, not JUST what is Google.co.uk!
Reply:google uk is a search engine for the UK, used to locate information on the net.

2.) you have recently "moved" to the UK

4.) you broke your internet

Is google the best?
Hi all,
Do you think that google is the best search engine of all times and it's impossible to be created some new one, better?
Do you know that google only lists 30% from the pages in the whole internet (the rest unlisted in google pages are known as the "invisible web" ...check wikipedia about that term).
Best,
Bob
Is google the best?
No, Google isn't the best, but it is the most popular in the USA and UK -- which makes it the most popular.
Why use Google (or any of the 200 or so search engines) when you can use a METASEARCH ENGINE that searches more than one search engine at the same time -- including Google?!
For example, Ask.com searches Google as well as Altavista, Excite etc.
Seems pretty daft to restrict yourself to merely one...
Google are too powerful anyway -- didn;t they just throw BMW off for trying to get a better Google ranking?
Web designers go mad, and millions of web pages HAVE to be redesigned every time Google changes it's ranking rules -- which they do often. Web designers find a small loophole that gets their sites onto the first Google returns page, and Google discover the loophole and close it... it's been cat and mouse like that for years.
In the source code for web pages there are metatags that web designers use for search engines -- a description of the site, keywords and so forth. OK, so this got abused by a few unscrupulous folk, so Google no longer uses these tags at all. So Google descriptions tend to be the top menus, left menus or ads! Google-wise sites all have the navigation on the right side as a result!
The more sites that link to your site, the higher ranked you will be.
The more links from your site to other sites the higher ranked you will be.
In addition, each linked site is ranked, such that if a high ranked site links to you, then you get Google kudos.
But, last year (because everyone started doing a LINKS page for their site), the links have to be relevant and in the course of the text of each page!
Then recently, Google decided that each page has to have a keyword saturation -- and that the links had to relate to the saturation percentage!
Put simply, if you design and upload a website, if no-one links to you, if you link to no other site (why should you?), you take no Google Ads, banner exchange etc, and (heavens above) you use a frame set or even have your domain name point to a frame page (cloaked redirection), then Google will not find you.
You will be found within a very short time by hundreds of sites around the world -- you can submit directly to them, they will use your meta tags, keywords and text strings.
In summary... if you want to FIND relevant sites, use a MAJOR METASEARCH ENGINE, such as 20, 37, Beaucoup, Dogpile, Debriefing, IXQuick, Kartoo, Search.com, Vivisimo, etc. or use a directory engine or indexing engine (INDICE).
Google? pah! Hyped by men in suits!

For one example of what's missing, consider context. Is the information from a technical journal article, an advertisement, or a political opinion piece? You can try to bias the search towards a particular type of item by judicious choice of search terms, but it's still hit or miss. I want to be able to specify the context of the information, or to sort search results by category.
Also, to find the answer to a specific question, you have to guess what words are going to be in that answer. I want to be able to just ask the question, and let the search engine sort it out. If it needs more information, it needs to be smart enough to ask for it.
Basically, I think the search engine of the future will read web pages for meaning, not keywords.
