Google & Java?
I wanna write a program using JAVA to get the HTML code of the result page by searching with the key word "asdf". But after setting the URL as follow

and defining the InputStreamReader as follow

why?

Google Adwords Vs. Google Adsense?
I have heard a lot of people talk about the two of these. Do you have to be selling something to use them on your website? Can you use them on a site like angelfire or Geocities..the ones that are free? I have also heard you have to pay for Google Adsense...or pay for the clicks..?? I do not have that much of an understanding on this. Can someone help me? Is there any free information on this? I saw a webiste about Adestroyer or something..i am not looking to pay for any book or any tool that is just going to suck my wallet dry. Thanks.

I run a political blog so I can tell you that the click-ads will change based on your content, which is what you want to happen otherwise your viewers will get tired of seeing the same thing over and over.

Be aware that you have to make $100 in clicks before you are paid and that payment is held back until the end of the following month. Example: pay period from May 15 to June 15. You are paid on July 20th to 25. Direct deposit pays you by the 5th of the following month.
It took me 7 months to hit that $100 mark but it has been worth it sense then. There are other good services just like Google so don't limit yourself to just one company.
I did drop Google for another company which lets me pick my ads to be displayed. Only reason I left Google. Google is good for starters though

Google seems to be locking my home page to its URL!!?
Google will not allow me to re-set my home page to any other than their own. I've clicked on Yahoo's "Make Yahoo your home page," typed it into Internet Options in as many ways as possible. Yahoo's correct URL appears in the box, but the minute I close "options" and click on "Home" Google reappears in the home page box. I've deleted autocomplete entries, history, temp files. No luck!

Is it against Google Adsense policies to search for a particular answer and then post the results of that search as a link. For example: if someone wanted information on backing up there computer files. If I type this into my personal Google search box the results will come up and I could give them this link. I am website designer and I make website mostly for my indian customers. After designing I submit my clients website to google search engine. But when you go to Google for Searching you get a choice below search text box "Search: the web OR pages from India". When I search by select "the web" my client sites appears but when I select "pages from india" it doesnt show my client sites in results, sometimes it shows no results found. Why is Ads by google everywhere? I hate it?
I'm beginning to hate google. Why is it that all sites are annoyingly congested with google adverts that instead of finding rich content you see google adverts everywhere? Is google paying the site owners for displaying adverts on their sites? How does the whole thing works?

I have a sponsored link on Google for my website and use Google Analytics to track who is accessing my site and I'm getting a lot of hits on my website from outside the UK which is costing me money (I have yet to have a purchase from outside the UK as the postage is too high). I don't understand whether Jabber or Google Talk provide free VoiP or not. What exactly do they provide in terms of VoiP (not interested in text msgs)

i find it funny im asking about google on yahoo! but google video, has it taken an anti-piracy license thingy? like i want to watch full episodes of South Park and watch movies like full movies and full episodes but all the full ones say Sorry this video is currently not available. what internet phone services work on google talk?, its pretty pathetic that i cant just ask google themselves, cuz there is just no such thing as contacting them.

of course, it might have talk capabilites, so you can talk with your friends if you have a microphone, but it isn't VIOP, which is what i think you are thinking of.

Is Google Pack providing StarOffice (the premium office suite version of OpenOffice) for free, or is it just a trial? The website shows that the suite is $80. Also, StarOffice IS free, but only for students, teachers and other academics, provided they use it strictly for academic purposes (I have used it myself before on this ground); but you have to agree loads of terms and conditions and stuff. Also, not every Google Pack downloader is supposed to be an academic......

Google homepage.....?
on my google homepage the google logo was in the middle and above it were words that you could click,ie images scholar etc but now these have moved to the top left of my screen under the favourites tab.any ideas how to get it back into the middle?

As far as I know from reading Google news feeds, that is the new design that is being implemented. You will get it sometimes or have the old design. It matters which server you hit but eventually it will all be like that.

Reply:that happenend to me the other day but the next time i logged on it was back in the middle i thought it might be an error. hopefully when you restart it might be back to normal

Reply:Depends,Google has added video to their websearch engine along with images, web, news, and maps. But Yahoo also has all of those but not as many things to each catagorie, Yahoo has music to weather and everything inbetween , they also have their own IM system, with e-mail, google just has e-mail(G-Mail)so I'd say my favorite for Information is Google, but for Media I'd go with Yahoo.
